STARTING JULY 9 - 6:30 p.m.
This Monday night class is a new program for Dementia Caregivers in partnership with Amazing Place. Caregiving, especially for those dealing with a loved one with dementia, is often a new role and requires special skills and knowledge. Amazing Place, Houston’s only day center exclusively for adults with mild to moderate dementia, is offering the innovative SAVVY Caregiver Class to churches in the community.
The free, six-session, two-hour class is intended to help caregivers learn practical skills for managing a loved one with dementia including:
-Insights about the changes their loved ones are experiencing;
-Coaching to identify solutions for individual issues;
-Feedback to assess how things are working between sessions.
Research has demonstrated caregivers who participated in this program improved their skill, knowledge and confidence in dealing with their loved one’s behavior as well as reduced their own feelings of stress.
Please contact Ariana Detert, LCSW at 281-217-3077 or firstname.lastname@example.org if this is something you would be interested in attending.
