Shrove Tuesday

Please join us on Tuesday, February 25 from 5:30-7 p.m. in the Wesley Student Center for our annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper. The St. Peter’s Youth Choir will be this year’s host and all proceeds will go towards the Youth Choir Mission Trip. 


Pay at the door.

Adults -  $10    

Children ages 6 to12 -  $5    

Children 5 and under -  FREE



Notes on Tradition:

Shrove is past tense of shrive, which means to obtain absolution for one’s sins by confessing and doing penance.  Anglo-Saxon Christians were expected to shrive immediately before Lent.  Shrove Tuesday is the last day of Shrovetide, which is the English equivalent of the Carnival tradition that developed separately in Latin Europe.  In countries of the Carnival tradition, the day before Ash Wednesday is known as the Tuesday Carnival in Spanish speaking countries or Fat Tuesday in French speaking countries.
